One of the oldest known team sports, curling dates back to the early 1500s in Scotland where it was played on frozen lochs. Canadians are some of the best curlers in the world with wins at the Olympics, many getting their start playing in hometown bonspiels. This Saturday, February 1 marks the annual Foodland Open bonspiel in Bobcaygeon, a 42 year-old tradition. Teams will compete for prizes all day at the Bobcaygeon Curling Club, 49 Mansfield St. Curling is a sport that offers a great workout and a lot of fun, an ideal way of enjoying winter!
