Today is Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year. After today, nights get shorter and days start to get longer again, a “return of the light” that has been celebrated for centuries. If you’re in the Kawarthas and looking for a Winter Solstice celebration, a good place to go is Peterborough. Artist collective Atelier Ludmila is putting on a drummer-led lantern parade and performances by dancers, musicians and puppets in and around Peterborough Square today from 6 to 7 p.m. Afterward, drop by Artspace at 378 Alymer St. N. at 8 p.m. for a series of musical experiences. Peterborough is 45 minutes from Highland Green in Bobcaygeon.
